Fund-Raising

The Roshni Centre (center) for Women exists entirely from private donations and from our various fund-raising activities. These include presentations about Rural Pakistan; if you are interested in having a presentation in your area, please contact us, at: info@roshnicentre.org.

We also have Bake Sales locally each month usually, with international delights.

As part of our fund-raising efforts we are teaming up with a local coffee company, buying coffee from them wholesale, in order to have a small profit on each bag sold.  The coffee will have information on it about the Roshni Centre as well as our own Roshni label.  When you make a donation of twelve dollars plus S & H we will send you a 12-ounce bag of Organic Coffee Beans.  This item makes a nice gift, especially coupled together with Rabia’s Honey Nut Cake (together a twenty-two dollar value for just twenty dollars), and the knowledge that you are helping rural Pakistani women.

Nadia Scarves

Another way to help us is by buying scarves from "The Lost Caravan” that local women have made.  The Lost Caravan donates 100% the profit of their “Nadia Scarves” to The Roshni Centre. Here is the story of the Nadia Scarf:

It was the dream of Nadia to have a women’s centre in her rural village of Pakistan, where women could get out of their homes, meet with other women, and learn some skills that would help them economically. She spoke to her sister-in-law, Rabia, about her dream. When Rabia was getting ready to head to the U.S. to share the unique items she had found in Pakistan, Nadia walked into the room with a beautiful new beaded shawl on. When Rabia said that she would like to get some of these to share, Nadia smiled and simply took off her new shawl and handed it to Rabia, and said: "I am honored that you like it, now it is yours."
The "Nadia" scarf offers the women of the mountains of rural Pakistan a way to share their beadwork with us. In buying these scarves, that look beautiful draped around your shoulders, giving off light or as a table runner, you help give hope to women of this poor, war-torn village. 100% of the profit from these scarves returns to the women of Pakistan.
Roshni is an Urdu word meaning "light". Wear the light and help spread it.
